INGREDIENTS

  • 1.2kg lean beef joint

  • 1 egg (for the egg wash)

  • 300g puff pastry

  • For the seasoning mix (if not using store-bought see **)

  • 30g Worcestershire sauce

DESCRIPTION

1. Prepare the Beef:

   – Place the beef joint in a slow cooker. You can add onions or carrots now if you like and yes this makes it more than 5 ingredients but you don’t have to. Some smart 🍑 said “it’s more than 5 ingredients on another post” – it’s optional… just a suggestion. 😂

2. Add Seasoning:

   – Add this mix along with the Worcestershire sauce to the beef after it’s been cooking for 2-3 hours on medium-high heat. Stir and break up the meat a bit to distribute the flavours evenly and prevent burning of the seasoning.

3. Cooking Time:

   – Cook for 6-8 hours on medium-high heat. For a moister dish, feel free to add gravy (again optional)

4. Prepare Puff Pastry:

   – Preheat the air fryer or oven to 200°C. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it to cover the beef, using about 60g of pastry per portion. Beat the egg and apply it as an egg wash on the pastry for a golden finish.

5. Baking:

   – Once the beef is cooked, wrap the top in puff pastry and bake. For the air fryer, it’s 8-10 minutes, and in the oven, it’s about 20-25 minutes or until golden.

6. Serving:

   – Let it cool a bit before serving. This dish goes well with the optional cooked onions or carrots, or any other sides you prefer.
